My Students

As supporters of lifelong learning, our preschool and per-kindergarten staff serves 3, 4, and 5 year old children on the west side of Indianapolis, Indiana. Many of our families live in poverty and 59% of our children receive special education services.

We support the idea that our children should be lifelong learners and love that we engage them in science in their world.

Our children come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. Our staff works hard to provide a variety of learning opportunities for our children throughout the year to continually support families in many ways. Many of our families work in low-income jobs.

My Project

In our classrooms, our 3,4, and 5 year olds are learning how plants grow below and above ground. They are learning the importance of water to the survival of plants. Our children are ready to begin growing plants and they are excited to plan to have this garden for years to come.

We need to have water hoses and watering cans to help the vegetables grow in our garden boxes and teach our children the importance of water in growing plants.

We don't have water close by so we need the hoses and watering cans. These materials are crucial in allowing this garden to grow throughout the spring and summer. The children will learn how to plant, weed and water and harvest these vegetables and share these vegetables with their families.
