Our sixth graders are new to intermediate school and I want to make a welcoming learning environment for them. I feel that they will thrive in mathematics in a nurturing environment that will help the whole student. As new students on a campus I think building a sense of trust and understanding is key to reaching the whole learner.
Our school is all about breaking down the walls to reach the whole learner, and I want to start this process in the classroom.
Our students do best in an inviting environment that allows them to showcase their strengths, and work on failing forward.
My Project
These tables will allow students the flexibility when working out math problems by showing their work on the table with their group partners. Our student like to talk out the steps to each problem, and by sharing the table as their work space the conversations will benefit greatly. I think students learn best from one and another when practicing their math skills.
We want to facilitate a student centered learning environment, and allow seating options for a structured flexible seating.
These tables will allow students a seating option other than a standard desk. We know that each student has an individual learning style, and we believe that can be extended to where they learn as well.
