Gross Motor Skills Are So Important For A Healthy Life!
Help me give my students the gross motor practice they need to grow strong and healthy. They currently share one balance bike, it would be awesome to have more so that they can get more practice in.
My classroom is located in a small community in northern California. Many of my students come from low income families and all the families are struggling to raise their special needs children.
I teach special needs preschool students ages 3-5.
Most have autism, speech and language delays, and/or physical or mental impairments. My students love to explore and use new toys. They are actively learning self help, kindergarten readiness, and speech and language skills.
Recently I lost my home in the Campfire. Some of my student's have family members who have also lost their homes. It was extremely hard on the student's to have their routines interrupted at home and at school.
My Project
Balance bikes are a great way to help children learn how to ride a bike. They help with gross motor skills, balance, and muscle strength. Safety is important so helmets are a must.
My students need to practice their gross motor skills.
Some have individual goals to focus on these skills. Many have motor issues that need to be addressed, these materials would help us meet our student's needs and goals.
Many of our bikes are getting older and breaking. Getting some replacements and adding some other kinds of tools besides just trikes will give the students a variety of gross motor practice.
