This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The Pre-Kindergarten students have recently received a new age appropriate playground. We would like to have materials for the students to strengthen their large motor skills on the playground.

My students are 4 and 5 years old.

There is a mixture of English language learners and students with language needs. The students are very active in the classroom and on the playground. My school is a Title 1 school with a high population of free or reduced students.

My Project

With these gross motor materials including balancing logs, ring toss activity, and a gross motor skills kit, the students will be able to use all of their muscles in a variety of ways. The students will learn balance, throwing skills, and different ways to make their body move to fight the childhood obesity trend. The students will also learn how to share the materials in appropriate ways.

Over the last few years the students have not been as active on the playground.

The new age appropriate playground and materials will be an added bonus to get and keep the students involved for a longer period of time. The more active they become the less we will have the worry about the childhood obesity problem.
