Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is my fourth year as a teacher and every year, I continue to learn. Through the supportive staff, the amazing opportunities to grow as a teacher, I can't see what there isn't to love.
My students are what drive me every single day to not only be a better person but to be a better teacher.
Their enthusiasm and love for learning is the light on the darkest of days. Although they all learn a different way, they always want to help each other within the classroom and outside of the classroom. As a teacher, I couldn't want anything more.
My Project
I have included a variety of picture books, such as "First Day Jitters" to "Henry Brown's Box", to help teach students the proper grammar skills to write well succinct paragraphs. With the different genre's like "Sojourner's Truth" to "How Many Day's to America?" students will also be learning about important events in American History. The books correlate well with the seasons and holidays to help make grammar engaging.
Grammar is a skill that is overlooked in the classrooms today, mainly because lack of time or a lack of how to teach it.
However, gaining these picture books in my classroom will allow my students to be engaged in learning grammar. Students will be engaged in the story of the book, then a sentence from the book will be used to teach students grammar.
No more students becoming bored by fixing sentences or students not knowing how to write a complete sentence to form a though. I will be able to engage my students and foster a love for both reading and writing.
