This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have a high level of curiosity and their energy is abundant. These children are from diverse backgrounds and households and many have a unique set of needs and challenges to overcome. We have a high population of at-risk students: socially, emotionally, and academically. However, there is also a high desire to be cooperative, respectful, and successful students.
My students' potential is limitless and I see future artists, musicians, computer scientists, athletes, and teachers.
My second-grade scholars have awesome determination. The academic growth that many are experiencing is remarkable because they have the ability and desire to acquire and apply the skills necessary to be successful.
My students inspire me to find creative and innovative ways to enhance their educational opportunities and showcase their unique talents.
My Project
My students love to give me cards with sweet messages that they have made at home or during a moment of free time. They often ask if they can make a card for their parents, grandparents, or other loved one.
I would love to supply materials for them to create their own unique greeting cards using blank cards, envelopes, labels, and a publishing program.
This activity can be integrated into our regular language arts rotations or writing time. Students will explore the many occasions that we send greeting cards and practice writing a funny, happy, congratulations, or simply thinking of you card! My kids will be proud to show these creations and share them with their family and friends.
