I work with 100 amazing K-5th grade students as an EL (English Learners) teacher. I teach language-focused lessons and provide a safe, creative and fun place to practice English. I hold all students to high standards and focus on a growth mindset.

My Project
I am requesting some do-it-yourself succulent and herb gardens and tools so that I can teach students about how to grow and care for living things. These windowsill gardens will provide unique, hands-on learning opportunities for children to plant and grow succulents and herbs. We can make a plan, work together, follow instructions and enjoy our efforts throughout the school year.
My EL students would greatly benefit from this authentic planting, growing and care-taking experience.
It is important for children to learn how to care for and respect living things. Students will have ownership in our classroom gardens. This project will provide a lot of academic and social language practice in both speaking and writing.
My hope is to inspire students to try something new and remember to care for all the living things on our earth.
