My students need materials for raised garden beds to implement a school vegetable garden. We are asking for start up materials and soil to get them creating! We have the sprouts...Just need the garden!
My students are a kind, imaginative, creative, and curious bunch of second graders who love hands on projects. They have a desire to learn and research, and love science! They spread joy, love, and compassion throughout the school and want to create one big project to intertwine science and kindness! They love making choices and taking ownership of their learning! These kids love coming up with new ideas that they can share with others throughout the school and the community.
My Project
Our second graders wanted to explore creating a vegetable garden as part of our plants unit and the launch of Genius Hour! They have been researching and preparing (and we already have their tomato, pepper, and cucumber seeds sprouting!)
We are asking for raised beds, soil, tomato cages, animal barriers, and some watering cans to get started.
The kids already have plans for preparing, planting, building, and taking care of the veggies. They hope to turn the garden into a large community garden, and share with the neighborhood! In the future, we would like to expand to a flower garden as well!
They are looking forward to getting their hands dirty and being responsible for this space!
