Green Reading!

My students need a Kindle to have better access to reading material, without purchasing more paper books.

My Students

Would you like to help foster a love of reading in students, while also helping our environment? I believe I have come up with a way to do both, but I need your help.

I teach at a public charter school that unfortunately does not have a library.

Over the past several years I have spent a lot of money trying to build and maintain a classroom library to meet the needs of my students. This has been difficult, not only because of the diverse needs of my students, but also because paper books do not hold up well with rigorous use. In an attempt to work toward a greener classroom, and build excitement about reading, I recently purchased a Kindle for my students to use. The students absolutely love it, and I relish the thought that I will not have to replace any of the books that I purchase on our e-reader. Now I just need to get more of them in my classroom to help spread the excitement!

My Project

As a language arts teachers, it is music to my ears to have students begging to read. With just one Kindle in our classroom, I have already witnessed students engaged in reading that would normally spend most of their reading time finding excuses not to read. I want to continue to build this passion for reading, but I need your help. Please consider helping add a Kindle e-reader to our classroom to help my students grow as readers, while also helping us to have a greener library.

Please help my students grow as readers!

My students love any chance to get their hands on technology, and if that is what I need to get them to develop a love for reading, I will do whatever I can to get a Kindle in each of their hands. If you are able to help me in this mission, my students and I would be grateful for years to come!
