Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students in Theatre History will study Greek Theatre this year. They will begin the year by reading a Greek play, then design and create a Greek mask to use for performance.
My students enjoy reading new genres of plays and analyzing new acting styles for the characters within the play.
Students in our program are encouraged to read and analyze different genres of plays. Our students are extremely passionate for performing arts and commit after school and weekends to make our program great. They often audition for community theater productions and use our script library for research. Our students also study technical design and costume design.
My Project
My students will use these supplies to create a Greek mask that they have designed. The paper masks will be the base for their project, and they will use the paint and masking tape to add to their individual design needs. After they have constructed their mask, the students will wear their Greek masks for a Greek inspired performance.
I believe that hands-on learning truly benefits every learning style.
The students will also have opportunity to create their own design which allows them creative freedom in their studies.
