My Students

I have a group of 32 enthusiastic First Grade students who are hungry to learn. They come from all walks of life and put a smile on my face every day. My classroom is ethnically diverse and has a large percentage of English language learners. Their smiles and fun times with friends at this age are so adorable. These are memories that will last a lifetime. I would like to be able to continue to have these moments at school for their parents to cherish forever.

My Project

These new books will help promote a love of reading in my classroom. Sometimes the stories in our books are not challenging enough or relevant and the students lose interest. Having more interesting topics to read about will encourage my students to want to read. I want to foster a love of reading in my students and having books that they can relate to will help. Reading is so important and allows students to use their imagination in a way that might not happen very often in a world full of technology. I am excited to see a classroom full of students with their "noses stuck in a book"!
