Help me give my students the opportunity to value reading with great literature such as "Little House" or with books on current events like "Where Am I Eating?"
I teach agriculture classes to a variety of students ranging in ability levels. In one course, I teach a class where 1/3 of the students are special education students. In another class that I teach, the students are primarily College and Career Ready juniors and seniors. Students are exposed to traditional agriculture classes in crop and animal production. As well as, modern agriculture courses, such as Small Animal Technology, Floriculture and Greenhouse Technology.
We are blessed to be in a college town in which education is valued.
Despite being a Title I school, students want to succeed.
My Project
The love of reading is crucial to academic success. The love of agriculture is crucial to our nation's survival. By choosing literary classics from all ability levels, agriculture backgrounds, and time periods; students will be given the opportunity to choose one book throughout the semester to read and report to the class.
It is my goal to allow my students enrolled in agriculture classes to take their love of agriculture and discover a love for reading.
With these interests, they can find that there is no greater way to learn than to discover knowledge in a book.
I chose one audio book, and books at reading levels ranging from 4th grade through 12th grade to ensure that all students have a book for their interests and ability.
