Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is located in an inner city with a majority of the student population receiving free or reduced meals. My school is in a Title I district. To qualify to be a Title I district, a majority of the students have to come from low-income homes where parents are often working two jobs to make ends meet.
My students are eager to learn, and as an educator, I want to provide my students with every opportunity to enjoy learning and be successful lifelong learners.
My Project
Reading fluency is one of the most important goals to be achieved in 3rd grade. My students are measured on their reading fluency 3 times a year. They need to read over 100 words accurately to be considered a fluent reader.
The listening center will provide my students an opportunity to listen to fluent readers read stories on CD or cassette tape.
The listening center will also provide my students with an opportunity to make connections to the stories as well as improving their listening comprehension. The listening center will also encourage my students to work cooperatively.
