My Students

My students are excited and full of life as well as energy. They love school and are very social when it comes to learning. My kids are always thrilled when they are working in groups and using hands-on manipulatives. They also enjoy group reading projects as well.

We are a Title I school.

All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch daily. Several of my kids receive a backpack with food in it for the weekend. Some of my students are being raised in single parent homes or by grandparents. This can make learning a bit difficult at times, which is why I am determined to give them the best start I possibly can.

My Project

My students need more on level books to fall in love with. It is hard to find "good fit" books when the kids are just learning to read. We need a variety of books on different interest levels to help create a spark for reading. If a kid learns to love reading at an early age they are more than likely to love reading their entire lives. The more you read the more you know is a very true statement. We are always reading and learning in our classroom and I love it when my students have choices as to what the are reading and learning, it makes them want to read and learn more!
