I have been teaching at my school for 12 years. I have had a great experience teaching here, because of the students. The school is a rural school with a total of 35 students in middle and high school.
The small school atmosphere creates an advanced learning environment with individual attention.
Teaching middle and high school allow me to develop a relationship with my students. I start teaching them when they are in their awkward middle school age to sending them off to college their senior year. I am able to connect with them on a personal level. As a teacher, I can become aware of their strengths and weaknesses early on and build on that throughout their school career.
My Project
The classroom materials add to the experience of writing and creativity. The tagboard will be a shared item with another teacher for poster creations in language arts and history. Too often students create projects using technology, which is not a bad thing, but sometimes students need to use a hands-on approach.
While in creative writing using a nice pen to critique makes all the difference.
Students will workshop each other's pieces and the use of nice colorful pens adds to the experience.
The pencil sharper and mechanical pencils are helpful in the classroom, especially during a time when sharing pencils is not a safe idea. More pencils in the classroom and the availability to sharpen them is always a creative resource.
