Mrs. Hornsby from Aiken SC is requesting Classroom Basics through DonorsChoose, the #1 classroom funding site for teachers.

Great Lessons Stem from Having Great Materials and Supplies!

My students need everyday supplies, such as paper, staplers, markers, and ink, to enhance lessons. Having sufficient materials equips students with the ability to demonstrate authentic work in solving math and science problems, and become great authors of writing.

My Students

While the world speeds by outside of us, our children's classrooms are not equipped to supply all the needs for their success. Students are eager for more technology and instruments in the classroom however, basic supplies are just as important. In order to build student knowledge and self esteem it is essential for teachers to have up-to-date and adequate materials and supplies as well as technology and instruments in the classroom.

With having the necessary materials, supplies, and technology in the classroom students will be immediately engaged, student learning will increase, and students will have opportunities to enhance lessons with rigorous hands-on activities that will bring lessons and learning to life.

My Project

The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! The ink toner/cartridges will be used to print great lesson plans, practice materials, and assessments. Having an adequate number of copies for every student will enhance guided and independent practice of skills during lessons. The paper, staplers, markers, and other supplies of the sort will be used by the students, so that they may create authentic work.

The donations to this project will help to improve my students' understanding of and competency in authentic, meaningful lessons including math, science, and writing.

By implementing the Writer's Workshop model, my students will begin to see themselves as true authors and illustrators. We will use these materials to aide us in the process of becoming life-long writers. As the teacher, I have done extensive research and reading on Writer's Workshop in the primary grades. Yet I truly need your support to make this a reality.

Your donations and support are GREATLY appreciated.
