My primary school is a public Montessori school in the heart of West Asheville. Our students are passionate readers and curious researchers. The Library, or Learning Commons, is a special place where students can investigate the topics that interest them and build research projects as well as find wonderful fiction to inspire their imagination.
My Project
Our students returned to the classroom this year and are so excited about coming to the Library (or learning commons) to read! They are finding books, sharing what they read, and recommending books to friends. Our 3rd and 4th-grade students are asking for graphic novels, but our library only has 10.
Help us build a collection of high-quality graphic novels that are suitable for elementary students so that we can get more readers in our library.
Graphic novels are especially helpful in engaging reluctant readers and helping struggling readers understand a more difficult text. I have built a list of award-winning and highly recommended graphic novels to get our collection off to a great start!
