Help me give my students engaging graphic novels for independent reading! After moving to fourth grade and acquiring books from other teachers, I am still in need of graphic novels for my students.
The more experience I have as a teacher, the more I realize how wonderfully unique my students truly are. They are diverse in so many ways, from socioeconomic status, ethnicity and race to native language and family make-up, but they are similar in that they come to school with a desire to learn.
Not every child comes to school ready to learn and to be challenged, but part of my job as a teacher is to instill a passion for learning and develop their innate sense of curiosity to ensure they will be lifelong learners.
My Project
My students have a wide variety of interests in reading. Some of them are really interested in Science Fiction, others are really interested in Realistic Fiction. I am grateful to have had many books donated to my new classroom library, but one genre I am missing is Graphic Novels.
After borrowing some graphic novels from the library, I was able to see how engaged in reading my students really get when they are given texts they want to read.
This is the reason I am asking for graphic novels for our classroom library for my students to read. I want to ensure each student has books they want to read in our classroom.
