Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students suffered a great loss during Hurricane Harvey. They were already below the poverty line and have lost the little they did own. Our district as well has suffered great loss due to flooding.
I am so proud to see our students return to school with excitement.
They have not allowed their experience to diminish their love of learning. In order to continue to support their desire to learn, I am submitting this project to give them materials to create a home away from home in our classroom.
My Project
Working together on the floor during math lessons and math stations would enhance students learning and participation. These materials will actively engage learners as they manipulate open number lines, ten frames and other tools. Students will increase their number sense as they partake in number talks, calendar math and whole group lessons. We will also become better scientist as we sit around our rug to observe science experiments.
Your donation will allow students who have suffered severe devastation feel a sense of comfort as they are having lessons on our rug.
Learning together in a more centralized environment will aid in maintaining students' focus and create a more cozy classroom.
