Great Chefs Are Clean and Healthy

My Students

Our students come to us from a variety of ethnic cultures. We serve a population of students with over thirty percent coming from low-income socioeconomic backgrounds in Humble, TX. Our middle school serves over twelve hundred students. My students include special needs, English as a second language learners, and 504 students with a variety of accommodations.

We are Texas strong and a community that sticks together and helps our fellow neighbors and friends.

Our students continually give back to the community through service learning projects. They work hard to provide food, clothing, and toys to those in need, to clean up our roads with trash pick up, and to perform music concerts for our local retirement home.

My Project

My classroom is a kitchen. I teach 7th and 8th graders culinary arts. My students do everything from learning to cook to washing and cleaning the kitchen. Our kitchen is run like a junior culinary school.

We need your help in getting a dehumidifier for our classroom because we get a lot of humidity in our kitchen.

Schools turn off the air conditioning in the evenings and over the weekends and breaks to save money on electricity. We need a dehumidifier to help keep the moisture out of our classroom so we don't have humidity issues. The humidity in the room makes our sugars, salt and other items very hard to work with.

The students promote healthy living by learning sanitation and safety in the kitchen. The students not only cook wonderful foods, but they also clean the kitchen, wash dishes and do their own classroom laundry. We go through a lot of soap and having the needed supplies would greatly help. Please consider helping our class stay healthy and clean by donating.
