Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come to class each day excited to learn! They come from a variety of economic backgrounds, and they are a diverse group of learners. My 1st graders are just beginning their school careers, but have already learned many things that will help them be successful.
Our school serves students K-5 and is a positive, safe place for students and teachers to learn.
We provide breakfast for all of our students in order to get their day started on the right foot. Many of the students receive free lunch each day and a backpack of food each weekend. Our teachers and staff work tirelessly to ensure our students have whatever they need to be successful.
My Project
The books that I am requesting will help my students learn about characters and how they feel. These books will encourage my students to understand how characters feel, how those feelings change while they read the books, and how to role play those feelings with others.
My students don't often have the chance to "act" like the characters in their books, and these books will give them that opportunity.
They will meet interesting characters who have experiences and adventures that will help my students understand the character's feelings. This will make a difference in their learning because it will give them a chance to put themselves in someone else's shoes.
