Great Books for Teaching Self-Love, Service, Leadership, Creativity, and Innovation!
Help me give my students wonderful literature about teaching leadership, respect, responsbility, kindness, core values, Africian American History, and much more. These books have been hand chosen to make my students productive citizen in the world today!
My students enjoy coming to school every day. Being a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with numerous challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I look forward to keeping things fun and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students love to learn, they love to read, and love lots of positive attention.
Many of them are being raised in single parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. Parents are provided informative meetings about how to help their child at home with the help of myself and other teachers in our building. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. Our day consists of working on math, reading, literature, writing, science, social studies, and human ware skills. We are busy all day long and my students LOVE it! By providing creative and positive ways to teach, my students are lifelong learners. I am hopeful to inspire all of my learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
Books can be a powerful tool in helping students to love and accept themselves and others. These great books have been hand picked by the popular motivational speaker, Carlton S. Ashby. These great books are for teaching self-love, service, leadership, creativity, and innovation to the 21st-century child. They will help my students understand the importance of core values and leadership skills. Teaching self-love and being kind to others will bring about confidence and kindness. There is so much negativity in the world that teaching kindness and self-love will bring about positive changes in the classroom and beyond. Some of these books stress the importance that it is okay to make a mistake, because mistakes make you grow! Healthy self-esteem will give my students the courage to try new things and make good choices. These pieces of literature will help students acknowledge their talents and recognize ways that can help them achieve and maintain positive self-esteem.
Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly is a true story about four black women who helped our country in space exploration.
I Like Me by Karen Beaumony is about loving yourself. The Sneetches by Dr. Seuss is a book composed of four separate stories with themes of tolerance, diversity, and compromise. Teaching with great literature helps students develop a sense of self. These books will spark the interest of my students and provide them with opportunities to explore core values and abstract concepts. These books will benefit all my students now and in their future, helping them shape who they are in the world.
