Hello, I am a 6-12 Special Education Teacher at a local school. We serve a very diverse population of students who come from up to 30 miles away from Bemidji. Many of our students have very diverse reading interests.
Students who spend time every day reading and having the opportunity to find something that interests them helps them grow as a learner and a person.
The exposure to more literature will allow the students to be the best learner they can.
My Project
These materials will allow my diverse learners to have access to great literature recommended by students and teachers from around the state of Minnesota.
I encourage students to read every day in my classes, this would allow them more selections to choose from.
With these selections, they would have a variety to choose from.
Finding books that encourage all students to read can be difficult, but using a proven list that has student recommendations on it makes the students more willing to read outside of their comfort zone.
I truly believe with my whole being that a book is an adventure waiting to happen. Many students need to have that experience as they do not have the opportunity to go!
