I have a Comprehensive Life Skills class with 14 students who range in abilities. Majority of the students have autism. My goal is to give every student the opportunity to reach their highest potential and their own personal goals. To do this, I structure my room to promote independence and self advocacy. My students are learning how to reflect on their decisions so that they can make better choices in the future. This group of 14 students are amazing and they make me so proud daily.
My Project
My students learn most from active participation and using objects or manipulative. Right now my students learn science from a simplified workbook, but these tools would enhance learning and engagement.
The current events magazine's would help structure my social studies and life skills class by reading and discussing age appropriate content.
The magazine's are full of amazing pictures and additional resources that can be used to teach new topics every week! These topics can be easily differentiated to teach all of my students. We used to have a set of snap circuits that I found at a thrift store. My students loved them so much, and now they are worn out.
