My Students

I teach high school students mathematics. I work with a wide range of low income students up through middle class. We have a large group of students who stop taking math classes because they can’t afford the graphing calculators needed at those levels and the school only has a handful to lend. My students are learning advanced statistical concepts and Pre-Calculus concepts. They are really great kids who work hard, have big dreams and just need help achieving them.

My Project

Lower income students stop taking math because they can’t buy the tools. These calculators will allow for some of those students to have calculators that will give them access to AP and other college level math courses. This will purchase six calculators for students to check out and use to access those higher level courses. These courses give college credit at a rate of ten dollars a credit which will give these students a step up in reaching future goals that they never thought possible. It will replace older calculators that have been used for ten years and are no longer working well.
