This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at a low income school where the majority of my students are on free or reduced lunch. Many of my students are eager to learn and the use of technology within the classroom will help to prepare them for future classes and life after school.

I currently teach both Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 classes, which consist of freshmen and juniors in high school.

I have three classes of Algebra 1 and two classes of Algebra 2 students.

My Project

My students in Algebra 2 need graphing calculators to explore the properties of graphs throughout the year in my class. Learning how to use graphing calculators will help my students succeed not only in my class, but in future math classes in high school and in college.

I currently have a class set of 28 calculators and I need 32 for my largest class of students.

Right now it is difficult to have my students use them since they need to share when they are working and it stops them from individually learning how to solve the problems they are working on.
