My students are in desperate need of graphing calculators. As the state standards require students to be proficient with graphing calculators, but my student population is at 92% poverty rate, it is difficult to require them to buy the TI 84 when they are on free lunch. It puts them a a huge disadvantage in the classroom.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

This gift will EXPONENTIALLY increase my students' potential! I teach in an incredible inner city charter school with a 92% poverty rate. State standards dictate that children need to have proficiency with a graphing calculator but my students are on free lunch and take multiple city buses to get to school. They cannot afford a graphing calculator.

My students are not lacking intellect, just income. They are incredible, hard-working kids who are all college bound. They need the tools to compete with all of the other college bound kids to level the playing field.

I have no pride when it comes to my students. I will do anything in my power to help them obtain whatever they need to be successful, be it love, tutoring, assistance or school items.
