I teach at an International Baccalaureate (IB) school that celebrates the diversity of our students at a large public high school in Indiana.
In a typical class of 25+ I have students from a variety of different countries representing many different religions and cultures.
Our large school promotes tolerance and support for all who attend. Students here take pride in their work and support each other's success as we work to improve. We are extremely proud of them and excited for a new school year. We know that when they have everything they need to be successful at school, they are able to accomplish so much!
My Project
Our Pre-Calculus curriculum has a focus on graphing and using graphing calculators. Having graphing calculators in the classroom enriches student understanding of advanced mathematical concepts. This technology will not only aid in student conceptual understanding of math but will also be a catalyst for critical thinking because students will be able to access more information that can be uncovered with pencil and paper. Becoming proficient at how to use a graphing calculator will also prepare students for success in college. Some of my students do not have the money to rent/buy a graphing calculator and I want to give them the same opportunities that other students who can afford them have.
Your generous donation will provide my students with an opportunity to think more deeply about math.
These Calculators are expensive and having them in my classroom for students to use would be a great help for them to learn the curriculum.
