Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

The algebra class that will be using these calculators is the second daily math class for these 8th grade students.

They are part of an urban, high-needs, low socioeconomic area where they are unable to purchase these supplies themselves, and are only given basic calculators in the classroom. This class is the first step in giving them the upper hand to get ahead in high school and have the chance to take calculus by their senior year!

Graphing calculators provide the missing link--a resource that is needed for a high school curriculum (such as algebra) but which is missing from our algebra classroom. Because the students cannot supply their own, and the school district cannot supply the calculators for the class, DonorsChoose.org is a great resource for us! We're relying on you!

Your help will allow us to explore math that has been unattainable in the past. We'll be able to truly be a high school class for the first time! Thank you so much.
