My students are in a low-income area. Their parents work a lot in order to support them. It is difficult for parents to take time off to be in the school volunteering. These students face struggles such as lack of food and basic necessities, yet they are so resilient. I grew up in this community and faced many of the same challenges that my students face every day. I chose to teach here with the hopes of inspiring at least one child. The students at our school have so much potential!
Each year my students love to help each other succeed, and they assist me in creating a classroom that cares!

The students at this school are becoming very excellent at technology, and they are always teaching me new things. Our school now has 1-to-1 technology, and the students are loving it. They are taking ownership of their learning through their data books and are reaching new heights all the time.
My Project
When I was first introduced to these books, I knew that my students would go crazy over them. I borrowed one and shared it with them and they couldn't get enough of it. It's so much fun to see my students eyes light up when they are learning. These books will allow that to happen in a way that is so fun they won't realize that they are learning. I have seen so many students begin to love reading when they find books that interest them and I am hopeful that these books will allow that magic to happen for a few more students.
