My Students
My students have come from many different parts of the world including Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and the United States. They come with tenacity, creativity, and a wide variety of experiences and gifts. We work hard every day as scholars, artists, critical thinkers, and friends.
At our school, 96% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and 92% of the students are students of color. The majority of my students are learning English as a second or third language. These students have the capacity to achieve greatness.
My Project
My students are crazy about books! We read every day, for at least 30 minutes. They love the graphic novels that are already available in our classroom library. I've been noticing however, that after finishing their favorite series, some students are discouraged when they can't find similar books. The books I've added to this project will triple the graphic novel options we have in our library.
