Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 7th Grade English Language Arts students are wonderful. They are kind, thoughtful, and for the most part, love to read. They are mostly from Queens. My school is a Title I school, which means that a large percentage of our students come from low income households.
My students benefit from having access to an updated and diverse library.
The more books I have to provide for them, the more I can get them invested in reading and in learning.
My Project
As an ELA teacher, I always want to ensure that my students are interested in reading. One of the most important steps has been ensuring that I have a diverse library of all different genres of books.
My students are voracious readers of graphic novels and manga, but the amount of books I have in these categories is limited.
I want to ensure that I am always well stocked with these books so I can keep my students excited about reading. Anything I put in this category tends to fly off the shelf, so your support for this project would mean a lot to my students and to me as well.
