Help me give my students access to graphic novels such as Maus II and Watchmen so that they can study not only the important topics within these stories but also the way authors and illustrators present their work.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from diverse backgrounds both culturally and socioeconomically. They are smart, funny, and have a lot to say. However, then they meet with me to discuss reading options, often time I am faced with the lack of enthusiasm for reading. More often than not, they don't see themselves in what they are reading.
My students need a literature selection that is as unique and diverse as they are.
My students deserve literature that reflects their cultures and backgrounds and need literature that helps them understand cultures different than their own.
My Project
By allowing the students to explore the pictures and the story they are able to identify the ways different authors emphasize details through these images. This helps them feel less pressure.
I want my students to feel comfortable exploring narratives while they are pushing themselves to comprehend their reading and graphic novels are helping with this goal.
We currently have copies of "Maus I," "American Chinese," and "Persepolis" in my classroom, but they are disappearing fast! I want to give my students a chance to explore more titles within different genres. With this donation, more students would be able to enjoy these amazing titles.
