This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have been without a librarian for almost 2 years and they are excited to be in the library again.
My students are readers.
They love graphic novels, Pokémon books, and anything scary. The Dog Man and Captain Underpants books are always checked out. They will read just about anything if it’s in graphic novel form.
My Project
Graphic novels help students develop critical reading skills like reading comprehension, inference, and vocabulary development. Because graphic novels don’t rely solely on text, they allow often frustrated students to read grade level text in a non traditional format.
Many of our graphic novels are falling apart or were lost at home over the last 18 months.
I am requesting a selection of graphic novels and illustrated chapter books suggested by my students as well as materials to help store the books and repair some damaged books already in the library. Please help my students continue to build their passion for reading!
