Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the privilege of serving amazing students! They are a group of kind, funny, and smart individuals. Knowing I get to serve these kids is what makes my job something I look forward to every day! This year we will be working hard to master many topics in math, reading, writing, social studies, and science.
This amazing group is composed of 16 hard working students!
Of the 16 students, 12 are Hispanic and are continuing to work on their English Language skills. Although most students are part of a low SES, we are a class rich of diverse vocabulary and diverse personalities. All of the diversity works together to make a beautiful group.
My Project
Unfortunately, our school does not have a library. Because of this, having a great classroom library is essential to my students' success in reading. Many of my students are behind grade level in reading and need an extra push to pick out a book and get excited about reading.
By building a better classroom library with the requested books, my students will be excited and eager to read.
My students need to have books they are interested in and that they want to read. By donating to this project, you will impact the lives of all of my students by filling our class library with exciting graphic novels that the students will love. I chose these books specifically because they are books my students have talked about wanting to read. I also picked these graphic novels because they make the test more accessible to my EL students. Their reading skills will improve because they will spend more time reading books that they are excited about!
