I teach English to an amazing group of students from a variety of different backgrounds, and abilities. In this class, we are a family. We learn from each other, grow with each other, and strive to be better people every day.
We use books to learn about our communities and tie them to things we can relate to through service projects.
I guide them through learning by fostering a love of reading, and teaching them a sense of belonging.
My Project
I have a group of students that love graphic novels, and I have very few in my classroom library.
This project will add a few new titles, as well as supply us with things we need for our classroom, like ink and paper for our classroom printer, and earbuds for students.
Several our my students are below grade level when it comes to reading, so while we have silent reading time they are allowed to listen to the books on audio as they read along. Our supply of earbuds has dwindled through the school year and we are in desperate need of replacements.
