My Students
Our school is a Title I school in Florida. This means that my children come from low income homes. This affects their emotional and physical well being as children. When they come to school they know that they are safe, taken care of, fed, and will be able to learn.
One of the things I pride myself on is providing a class library for the students to be able to read from during free time and to borrow to take home and read. The children love this, especially when I have new books or book series that they enjoy. My students and I would be grateful for any donations to our classroom!
My Project
These books will help my children be able to actively enjoy reading! Having books available that interest them makes them want to read rather than be forced to read!
This is especially great considering many of my students are low level readers and the more reading they do, the better they become at it.
Additionally, since most are from low income homes this gives them a greater access to books that they wouldn't otherwise have. And they can even borrow books to take them home to read, if they like.
I have personally added hundreds of dollars in books to my class library already this year and I feel such joy anytime a student asks to borrow a book. It makes all the time, effort, and money worthwhile.
