My Students

Many of my students have had very little exposure to formal art training or creative exploration and practices. This makes them more open to exploration and more eager to learn new things. My students’ demographic is very underprivileged and many live below the poverty line. 50% are Hispanic. I have many students that are homeless and some don’t even have running water or electricity where they live. Over 80% of my students at my school are on the free/reduced-priced lunch program.

Do you remember the first time an art teacher taught you something you’ve never tried before?

That exploration and discovery were invaluable. I want to do that for my students.

My Project

By providing these laptops for my students to use, they will be able to take their work with them wherever they go. I want to upload them with Adobe Creative Suite so that the students can work on Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign projects from both the classroom and home.

My graphic design class is exploring ways that students can learn how to integrate art and technology for the creation of marketing and creative materials.

These laptops will enable my students to work anywhere that they need to during the school year.
