My students need AAA batteries to use in our class sets of graphing calculators.
This project expired on December 20, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
We are teaching math students at a suburban high school where almost 50% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches.
Not all of these students can afford the technology such as calculators for their math and science classes.
We want these students to practice using these graphing calculators daily before they use them on state-mandated achievement tests, Advance Placement tests or the ACT/SAT.
Your support would help students do well in math and science classes and on their tests.
Our math teachers have classroom sets of graphing calculators that need new batteries at least once a year. 8 teachers x 30 calculators x 4 batteries = 960 batteries per year.
We use the calculators to graph functions, see trends, recognize patterns, prepare for ACT/SAT, and get a visual for complex ideas.
The AP TEST requires a graphing calculator for 50% of the test. These classroom sets are critical to use daily for student explorations and preparation for the AP Calculus and AP Statistics exams in May. Graphing calculators are really needed when using real life examples with large numbers or interesting functions.
