Granting Students Power to Choose Their Own Learning Environment!
My students need different seating choices! The bean bag chairs and the stools would be great additions to our flexible seating options. The table would be great too because it has adjustable legs!
I have roughly 30 wonderful 4th graders who come into school excited to learn! They come from all different backgrounds as we are a public charter school. A lot of students at this school are English language learners, while some are spending their first year inside an English classroom!
With all different backgrounds and personalities, we need a few different areas for them to sit in!
Think back to when you were in school. There were traditional desks with chairs and admit it, that was a little boring! Students love to be able to switch up their seats during the day, as well as sit in different areas of the room. Flexible seating will bring tons of excitement in the classroom everyday.
My Project
Flexible seating allows children to choose where they sit. I plan to raise a table in the back corner of the room, so the high stools will allow children to sit/stand at this table when they work. Other students prefer to work in the comfy corner with bean bags. By allowing students to choose their own seats, we are empowering their learning. They feel more comfortable and safe in a flexible seating environment.
We are giving students power by having various seat choices!
Some students do prefer the traditional setting, but we are reaching out to those who don't fit in a traditional school setting and that's what our school is all about!
