Grammar Graphics: A Colorful Approach to Writing!

My students need a hands-on kit for learning grammar basics.

Hooray! This project is fully funded

My Students

Grammar Graphics works! Brightly colored symbols help students recognize language patterns in a visible, engaging way. The problem? I've been borrowing a colleague's Grammar Graphics kit for several years---and now she's moving to a new job overseas. We need our own Grammar Graphics kit!

My students are delightful!

I teach Grade 6, 7, and 8 Language Arts to urban students who are working hard to reach grade level skills. Many of my students are overage and most are English Language Learners, but they are also curious learners who work hard every day. My students need extra help with writing and benefit tremendously from graphic support in the classroom; Grammar Graphics is a perfect match for us.

My Project

My students enjoy Grammar Graphics. This hands-on manipulative program teaches them to identify parts of speech. They learn to write more varied and sophisticated sentences. The use of colors and shapes to code sentences patterns helps all of my students learn and improve their writing skills. We are able to talk about language and patterns in a way that is meaningful and useful to everyone. Students like manipulating the plastic pieces and, partly because they enjoy it so much, they easily master language patterns and begin applying what they have learned in their writing.

Grammar Graphics has been helping my students grow into fluent, competent writers for years.

Unfortunately, there is only one kit in the building, and that kit is about to leave with a colleague for a new teaching position overseas! Please help us keep this program in our classroom!
