With Graham's new 8 period schedule, many students who did not have an opportunity to have an elective now can. There are now 4-5 times the amount of students working with supplies purchased from our limited budget. With this dramatic increase in enrollment taking, we are looking for additional sources of funding!
At Graham, more than a third of students receive free or reduced-price lunches and many students are designated ELs and SpEd.
All of our students deserve a chance to express their diverse learning styles in art class with sufficient tools and supplies.
Art class is a conduit for students to explore essential questions that lead to inquiry and engagement in their education. Our curriculum is based on State and National Core Arts Standards and focuses on artistic literacy as a basis for curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication. By learning to love an art education, students learn to love learning itself.
My Project
Our students are very creative and would love to have an opportunity to express themselves in healthy ways. Students deserve to enjoy creating real art, using real supplies, in a variety of mediums.
These basic supplies, drawing paper, clay, paint, etc.
will be used by over 300 students each year and will last for years to come. Some needed equipment are durable tools that will help build the art room year after year, while others are consumable supplies such as paper and paint.
I believe that as students work with different mediums, they will not only understand and appreciate the world around them better but also understand themselves and others while learning necessary 21st-century skills such as creative thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration.
