This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I'm the librarian of a Title I high school in the heart of the Mississippi Delta. Our student population consists of tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade students. All of our student body receives free lunch. Many are reluctant readers who read more than two levels below grade level. However, despite the obstacles they face, our students are curious and motivated to learn. They just need more tools to encourage them to do so. They are incredibly creative and talented kids who are determined to make their mark in the world.
My Project
As our school year is rapidly winding down, we are preparing to celebrate our seniors' accomplishments and send them off into the world. We hold a celebration at the end of the year, honoring our students. We would love to present each graduate with a small gift to celebrate their graduation.
College students always need bedding materials, and cozy throw blankets would be perfect gifts!
These blankets will keep our students warm and comfortable as they study and settle into their new collegiate lives. We've spent years preparing them for college, now we would like to provide them with some practical items to ease their transition. We have no budget allotted for gifts for our students, so we would love your help in obtaining items for some very deserving kids. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
