I am so excited to begin the 2019/2020 school year. I teach 2nd grade in Dexter, MO. I love watching my students get excited about learning! I love watching those light bulb moments and sharing their excitement when they finally grasp a new skill. I will be teaching students from different backgrounds with a range of abilities. I want them to feel at home and comfortable in our classroom. I want them to be excited to enter it every morning.
My Project
In literature circles, small groups of students gather together to discuss a piece of literature in depth. These grade-appropriate chapter book sets will allow me to implement literature circles in my classroom. Students benefit and gain a greater understanding of what they read through peer discussion and working together. Literature Circles allow students to become critical thinkers as they read, share thoughts, ask questions, and respond to reading selections. Students are excited to learn from one another and to work in small groups to read and complete tasks. The comfy chairs will be utilized for seating during literature circle time.
