I have an awesome second-grade class in Bloomington, Minnesota. It is a very diverse school. My school is classified as a high-poverty school, with many students on the free or reduced-price lunch program. My students are made up of a wide variety of abilities, interests, and challenges.
They are all at different academic levels and have an array of talents.
My students come in daily with a positive attitude and are ready and willing to learn. From learning support students to English language learners, I am here to teach them all, and give them the best education. Our school is a community working together to create a positive, academic, and social experience for all learners to soar.
My Project
Research shows that giving students choice promotes learning. During their independent work time, my students like to pick their own working spot where they can focus and complete projects.
The foldable lap trays will give students many choices beyond traditional tables and chairs.
Each day students decide what kind of mood they are in; what kind of seat is needed to optimize individualized learning. Some students choose the same type of seat each day, while others change their seat daily or every hour.
The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices.
I have taught for over 20 years and I have seen how choice can positively affect students work and demeanor! Activating bodies and brains through personal choices allows for optimal learning to take place in my classroom.
