Middle school students are a unique group of students. Our students at MMS are no different. They are active and vivacious! However, recently they have been stifled by a vicious storm. When Hurricane Harvey came through our area, we had a total loss of our school. It devastated our community! Most of our students were impacted by this storm as well.
However, our students are amazingly resilient!
They have had to adjust to portable buildings and a make shift library and have done it with patience and a smile.
Just recently we moved back into our school. The students are so excited! Slowly we are putting our lives and the lives of our students back together as a school family and community family.
My Project
With your help we would like to give our students a relaxing environment in the library with new comfortable furniture. With this furniture, we will have a story\ teaching area. We will have stools for our students to sit around a bar area for searching the catalog or just reading a good book.
The library is a place we want our students to use their imaginations and experience the things they read in a whole new way.
Having just gone through such a horrendous storm as Harvey and lost their own homes, this new furniture will give our students a sense of belonging and a relaxing place to delve into an a good book to enjoy the adventurous journey!
