My Students

I am a Cross Country coach at West Oak High School in Westminster, SC. West Oak High School is in the AAA classification. We have a growing program and we are trying to enhance interest in running by creating a program that is successful. In the past two years, our girl's team has qualified for the state championships. Previous to these two years, they had not been in over 10 years.

My Project

At West Oak High School, the running program is a growing program. In previous years, the team was not very successful so it did not have much interest with the students. We now have two new coaches and over the past two years, the program has gained more interest and success. Previous to the past two years, the girl's cross country team did not qualify for the state championships in over 10 years. The girl's team has qualified for the state championships in the past two years! If the athletes had access to GPS watches, they would be able to track their runs and see how many miles they complete and determine their pace.
