This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is a spectacular Title I school where every student receives free lunch and breakfast. It is made up of predominantly African-American and Hispanic students.
The majority of the students come from poverty stricken and low-income homes which they don't allow to deter them from striving for excellence.
However, this does not stop or students for wanting to learn and succeed. It does put a limit on the amount of resources we are able to deliver to our students.
My Project
We would love to take a trip to the Morehead Planetarium in Druham, NC. It may be 45 miles up the road but most of our kids barely leave Roxboro. This trip is a chance for them to engage in learning with a new experience of a planetarium show. A chance to see what makes up our universe in a live action show.
Shoot for the moon, if you miss at least you will be among the stars.
Kids need to be able to learn in different ways to be able to reach their dreams. This trip is to inspire our students to learn not just about the geographical area around them but what makes up the universe.
