Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach first grade in a Title I school. Although my students may live in an impoverished neighborhood, my students are vibrant and will brighten up your day! They can be an energetic bunch! They are hard workers and love to show this to anyone who walks into our classroom or whoever they see in the hallway!
My students are an amazing group of children with different abilities and personalities.
They are busting at the seams to learn. They are excited to learn and grow.
My Project
First Graders are inquisitive learners. They should have print rich environments. These resources will help create a brightly colored, print rich environment.
A printer, ink, and colorful paper will be used to create engaging visuals for anchor charts and center activities.
With the influx of students displaced by Hurricane Maria, current ELL students, and the rest of my students; I am being mindful about the needs of each and every one of my students and how I can better support them. The color printer will be used to generate images and photos to post on anchor charts. Students use the anchor charts to refer to previous lessons and/or support with their new learning. These charts are posted throughout the classroom, as well as in the hallway. I can make center activities, with the printer and cardstock, to support learning for all students by using visuals to manipulate.
These resources would have a profound impact on my students and their learning! The visuals on the colorful paper would grab the attention of my students when they look for support on the anchor charts. All students benefit from visual aids to refer to, especially ELL students with limited English vocabularies.
