When you step through the door into our learning space, you are instantly greeted by 16 eager, friendly faces that want to know why, explore more, dig deeper, and be challenged. They are constantly learning, moving, growing, and exploring their world and the people in it.
Their energy is contagious and their love for learning is so unbridled and natural.
They are learning at an amazing pace and making gains each and every day. They make me so proud to serve and teach them every day. I want to give them the moon, because I know in my heart they will do amazing things with it! They always strive to be their best and this project will help them meet that goal!
Before a young child can learn to write or color it is essential that they develop the large muscles in their arms. These large muscles provide support for the small muscles once properly developed and strengthened. Muscle development isn't just essential for writing, but also for sitting and running - first you need to crawl, and then walk, before you can run. Many children are showing up in Kindergarten, having skipped milestones like crawling, and are at a gross motor deficit. This makes sitting, cutting, coloring, writing, and other essential school skills next to impossible for them.
With your help my kindergarteners can build strong muscles to help them play, learn, and thrive!
Your donation will provide fun and engaging tools and toys that will help them build essential muscles, both small and large. These materials will be used every morning during Fine/Gross Motor Morning Work to provide my students with 20 minutes of muscle development. The engaging activities you donate towards will also be integrated into math and literacy station work, allowing all of the students to strengthen their bodies and their minds throughout their school day.
When you walk into my classroom you will see; students balancing on a balance beam, while bending low to pick up and read words, students stepping on the hedgehog balance stones to step out syllables in words while building literacy skills, balance and coordination simultaneously, and students using play-doh to role long snakes which builds arm strength and then turning those snakes into sight words. Students are all working, playing, and engaging in valuable activities that strengthen their muscles while linking to creative and academic skill building. Help us build a firm foundation of fine and gross motor skills that will positively impact the lives of these kindergarteners for years to come!
